HOW DOES A HEALTHY GINGATION APPEAR?
Healthy gingiva is usually light pink in color, matte, has an orange peel-like surface, has a hard consistency (without bleeding), and ends like a knife-edge without thickening on the tooth surface. It does not bleed while brushing or eating.
Healthy gingiva creates a groove surrounding the tooth in the neck of the tooth. This structure, called the “gingival groove”, deepens in the diseased tissue and is called the gum pocket. Pocket formation plays a decisive role in the dentist’s diagnosis of the disease.
WHY DO THE GUMTS SICK?
Gum disease occurs due to reasons such as smoking, stress, teeth clenching, unbalanced nutrition, genetics, some medications, pregnancy and diabetes.
Gingival diseases are infectious diseases. Gum diseases have only one main factor. Bacterial plaque, which is not removed from the mouth at least twice within 24 hours, initiates gingival disease. Plaque covering the teeth is a physiological process, and it is impossible to prevent.
Most periodontal diseases are chronic inflammatory diseases. If an acute abscess formation is not present, they do not give discernible symptoms such as pain. Periodontal diseases are present in the mouth for many years, and they can progress without any significant symptoms and cause tooth loss. The only symptom is bleeding gums when brushing or spontaneously.
HOW ARE GUMS DISEASES DIAGNOSED?
These diseases are often chronic diseases. Although the disease is present, it may not be noticed at all for a while. If the gums are bleeding and enlarged, if there are calculus, sometimes the gums are pulled and the teeth are elongated, if some teeth are displaced and gaping, if the teeth are loose, if there is a bad taste and bad smell in the mouth, you should definitely see a gum specialist.
IS THERE A RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN GIMENT DISEASES AND SYSTEMIC DISEASES?
The developmental mechanisms of heart diseases and periodontal diseases are similar, and both diseases occur more frequently in older age, men, low sociocultural level, smokers, high blood pressure, stressed individuals. Studies have shown that people with oral infections are 30% more likely to have a heart attack compared to individuals without infection. The microorganisms causing periodontal disease and the harmful substances they secrete play an important role in diabetes.
WHAT ARE THE REASONS OF GINGAL RETRACTION?
-Having Teeth Stones,
-Poor Oral Hygiene,
-Flood Embankments,
-Mismatched Crown Bridges,
-I’m bruxis,
-Incorrect Tooth Brushing,
-Genetic,
-Periodontal Diseases.
WHAT IS DENTAL STONE?
Dental calculus (tartar, calculus) are hard structures formed as a result of long-term retention of deposits that we call bacterial plaque. Teeth and gingival cleaning does not cause any harm to the teeth. After dental calculus cleaning; Bleeding in the form of leakage in the gums and hot-cold sensitivity lasting for a few days can be seen for a day, it is normal.
PREVENTION OF calculus formation;
To prevent or at least minimize the formation of calculus; Regular maintenance of teeth with toothbrush, fluoride toothpaste and dental floss is essential.
HOW IS THE TREATMENT OF GINGAL DISEASES DONE?
The first step of the treatment is to clean the dental plaque, which is the main factor of the disease, by the patient using a brush, dental floss, and an interface brush, and to remove the deposits on the teeth with special tools by the dentist. This stage, which is called the initial treatment, is the basis of periodontal procedures.
WHAT IS DENTAL RETRACTION?
The gingival border falls below the enamel level and the root surface is visible.
HOW TO TREAT THE DAMAGE ON TOOTH TISSUE?
It is treated by applying a filling to the distressed area or covering the tooth completely. In this way, the problem of sensitivity is also eliminated.
